According to German media, Facebook recently bought a startup with an expertise in video manipulation. The German-based startup called 'Fayteq' has software that is able to remove or add objects in videos, even live ones, and add effects to them.
Siegfried Vater, an investor and partner of Fayteq says the company offers "innovative technologies in the area of off-line and real-time video manipulation, removing the border between reality and fiction".
This week, Facebook launched its new initiative for original video, competing with the likes of Netflix and Yuotube.
Fayteq is also known for selling plugins to video editors like Adobe After Effects that allowed video editors to track objects in videos, and then add or remove assets with the help of the tracking data.
